E-mail received today from Cynthia Jaramillo:

ESPN update: The soccer tournament is continuing. One AFCA team tied today and the other team won. Both AFCA teams are favored to win the entire tournament. More and more children arrive each day, there were about 70 today. They all get fed each day and the kids are extremely excited about receiving medals. Little Ian is playing really hard and the kids are all beating him up, he has huge scrapes from playing his heart out.

The education team led the first day of training at AFCA. They began the morning with a brief devotion by Pastor Renes. Beth S. and Beth F. showed how to use manipulatives by teaching several math games. The teachers had a great time competing against each other. Brooke and Raymond introduced the laptop computer. Susan used two Aesop's fables to teach four skills that good readers use when they are reading. Participants were provided with lunch, and three teachers won door prizes.

The "VBS" group woke up early this morning. Marie and Hudson Alvarez picked them up to take them to Croix des Bouquet. It was interesting to ride in normal vehicles. They joined the evangelism group at Croix des Bouquet and walked on the streets to witness to people. It was a really good experience and they all got to learn some Creole. After stopping at the 'One Stop' for bread and rubber bands (the girls got their hair braided tonight), they came back to Walls for sandwiches. They will be doing the same evangelism tomorrow morning.

All the groups joined together after lunch and went to Notre Maison, a local orphanage for severely handicapped children. What an experience... it deeply touched each person that went. Please keep the children in your prayers as well as their caretakers. It was a wonderfully run orphanage that has a lot of potential but still needs a lot of help. They have many visions and dreams that they hope will occur in the near future, much support is needed though.

Tonight was a free night for all the groups. Tomorrow will be a busy day. We all send our love to each one of you. Please continue to keep us all in your prayers as our last days are arriving. Thankfully, Barbie is feeling much better today- she expects to join us tomorrow afternoon.
