We arrived on site at 7:00 a.m. to find the ground muddy and very slick. Mark grabbed a shovel and cinderblocks and began fashioning steps up the steep approach to the house. Soon several other youth joined in the effort to provide a safe work site. When Heather, the Mountain Outreach liaison, arrived with a truckload of straw, conditions began to improve.
The challenge of working on two houses took its toll today. Nearly everyone worked between eleven and twelve hours, the pace was frantic, and we are all very tired. The good news is that both houses are nearing completion.
Our house is painted inside and out. We passed the final electrical inspection just after lunch. The plumbing is nearly done, and the counters are mostly installed. We moved the furniture into the house late this afternoon. The "shared" house is in even better shape.
Dedication of both houses scheduled for 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.
