I am unable to completely express in words what I am feeling since coming home from this past weekend’s PMBA Youth Retreat at Ridgecrest. I was overwhelmed by the leadership of our group and the amount of hard work that each person put into making this year’s retreat special.
The worship leadership for the retreat rotates each year among several churches in the association. Our youth led this year’s worship, and it was remarkable. The group began preparing back in September for this weekend. We spent time studying and planning for three different services. The services centered around three different characters—Joshua, Mary Magdalene, and Paul. After learning about each person’s faith story, we moved to discussing how we could best communicate those stories to youth at the retreat.
The youth decided to use just about every medium available to communicate what we learned—drama, creative movement, music, movies, videos, computers, and the spoken word. Each of our ministry teams played a vital role in helping to communicate the power of these faith stories to the youth while adding a page to the faith story of our own youth group. I need to say a special thank you to each person who played a role in the powerful worship services from this weekend. There is not enough room to name them all, but every person who helped make this weekend possible should know they were instruments used by God in doing something eternal and life-changing!
