Monday morning, August 22, twenty seven seniors boarded the church bus for a week at "Caswell." Caswell is the North Carolina Baptist Assembly near Southport at the site of an old fort dating to the Civil War and used through World War II. Baptist have turned it into a beautiful and interesting retreat location. The group was joined by Jason Cogdill, the Minister of Senior Adults and Congregational Care, along with Lori, his wife, and their son Thomas.
Mornings and evenings were spent in worship and Bible study, along with classes for crafts, fishing and dulcimer playing. Afternoons were free for recreation and games. Eating was always a major event and included a nighttime snack of desserts brought by the participants. Add a few pranks, some serious competition in the games, a trip to Bald Head Island, and you get the flavor of the week.
