Upcoming Events, August 25, 2019 edition
- At the end of the Service of Affirmation, every student in our church will have an envelope available to be picked up by our adult church members. All we ask of our adults is to keep these students in their ongoing prayers as well as communicate with them on a periodic basis. This is a simple task that has eternal impact. Please pray about being part of this invaluable ministry.
- Book Club meets on Monday evening, August 26, at 7:00.
- There will be no evening activities on Wednesday, August 28.
- Grub Club will be going to Olive Garden on Thursday, August 29, leaving the church at 6:00 p.m. Sign up at the Welcome Desk if you would like to go with us.
- Max Lucado says that many Christians underestimate what happened to them upon conversion. Trusting Christ is more than a removal of sin. It is a deposit of power. “Could you use more energy? You have it. More kindness? It’s yours. Could you use some self-control, self-discipline, or self-confidence? God has already given them to you. You just need to claim your inheritance.” (Lucado)
Join us for our study of Glory Days by Max Lucado. Our study begins Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30 pm. This is a 7-8 week study. Our time will be led by Steve Loftis. Please sign up at the Welcome Desk. - College Parkers will enjoy their annual Great American Hotdog Feast on Thursday, September 19th at 11:30am. Come enjoy a few dogs with all the fixings and be entertained by an award winning Barber Shop Quartet, “Sound Counsel,” who never disappoints. We do ask that you help chip in $5 to help offset the cost of the meal.
- At our Church Conference in October, we will be voting on a motion to remove the “3-year term” for Church Clerk in our Constitution.

- We often think of idols as ancient graven images or golden calves, but God’s people still battle idolatry every day. Our idols look more familiar-money, fame, power, work, ministry, and people. We serve these gods above the one true God and miss the unrivaled joy of following and knowing Jesus Christ.
This 8-week study, No Other Gods, will help identify the gods you may be unknowingly serving and the lies they tell you. The study will meet Wednesday nights at 6:30 starting July 10th, led by Mary Keltner and Lee Loftis. No worries if you have to miss a week for vacation…video is available online. - You are invited to join us for Hymns & Homemade Ice Cream
Sunday, August 11 @ 6:30 p.m. Please email, write, call, or communicate in some way your favorite hymns and spiritual songs to Mary Keltner and she will choose from your suggestions. Also, please let Mary know if you can bring a batch of your homemade ice cream for everyone to enjoy.Volunteer training for the Forsyth Jail Ministry will be today, July 21, 2:30-4:00pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 520 Summit Ave., 27101.
