Announcing new website design

May 30, 2018

Welcome to the new website design for College Park Baptist Church. The new design is intended to make it easier to navigate, especially for first-time visitors.

Another aspect of the new design is that it is built upon the WordPress content management system. With WordPress, adding and editing content is much easier than under the previous architecture. The new design is also better suited for use on small screens and smartphones.

Important tip: check the Home Page for a list of recent posts. “Posts” are an important feature of the new architecture. Whereas “pages” fit into a heirarchical structure usually accessed via the menu structure, “posts” are time-sensitive information, such as announcements of upcoming events, posts of worship recordings, etc.

Special thanks to the Communications Committee for many hours of hard work bring us this design:

  • Jeff Allen
  • Joseph B Alexander
  • Harrison Andrews
  • Bill Hinson
  • Kent Hobson
  • Jeremy Hohertz
  • Rick Matthews

  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) are more valuable than ever. With the doubling of the standard deduction and the suspension and limitation of many other deductions, far fewer taxpayers are likely to itemize.  This means that far fewer will be able take advantage of the deduction for charitable giving. With a QCD, you can use the standard deduction and get a tax break for your charitable contributions. Is a QCD right for you? You must be age 70 ½ and the funds from your IRA must go directly to a qualified charity. You are also limited to $100,000 annually. A bonus benefit is that your QCD can satisfy your required minimum distribution from the IRA. See Grace Hodge for details or your financial advisor.
