Proposal to Eliminate Giving Plans Rejected.

The 2004 NC Baptist State Convention considered and rejected a motion to eliminate Cooperative Program giving alternatives. Currently Cooperative Program gifts are directed to one of Plans A, B, C, and D. Conservative churches generally prefer Plans A or D, while moderate churches tend to favor Plans B or C. College Park gives 60% to Plan C and 40% to Plan B. The proposed motion would have eliminated these four options and offers a single plan that was a blend of Plans A and D.

Assuming churches continued their previous giving, the effect of the change would have been to increase the portion of Cooperative Program gifts forwarded to the Southern Baptist Convention, while cutting the funds going to state agencies such as Baptist Children's Homes. Any giving to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will be eliminated.
